About Telephone Recovery Support: USARA provides Telephone Recovery Support (TRS), an innovative peer-to-peer recovery support service.  TRS offers weekly telephone calls to people in recovery from alcohol and/or drug addiction to “check in” and see how they’re doing.  Calls are made by trained USARA volunteers that are also in recovery themselves.  TRS helps reduce relapse and enhances the recovery experience for recoverees as well as the volunteer making the calls.

USARA is Utah’s award-winning addiction recovery community organization. Our mission is to celebrate, advocate, support, and educate on behalf of drug and/or alcohol addiction recovery and Utah’s recovery community.

Job description:  TRS Volunteers will call individuals in recovery that have signed up to receive a weekly support call. Calls are made at USARA’s Recovery Community Center in Salt Lake City. TRS Volunteer will receive job skills training as a call center professional, and provide valuable peer support to recoverees who are provided support and encouragement as well as information about community resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Be able to respond to recoverees questions
  • Provide them with local recovery support services and/or information
  • Complete required call logs and reports
  • Encourage and motivate recoverees
  • Assist the recoveree in establishing weekly goals
  • Be an additional resource and advocate for the recoveree in terms of identifying housing, transportation, training programs, employment services and recovery support groups in their geographic area.
  • Share the strength of your personal recovery as appropriate
  • Recognize, document and contact the TRS Manager as needed to assist with any questions or other issues.

Requirements:

  • Six (6) months of continuous recovery
  • Knowledge of recovery process and local recovery resources
  • Time Management skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and professionalism
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership of projects;
  • Honest, diligent and hard-working;
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • 18 years of age or older

SKILLS:

  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task;
  • Computer proficient (keyboard, Internet Search Engines);
