Celebrate Recovery Float in 2013 Utah Pride Festival – USARA

Celebrate Recovery Float in 2013 Utah Pride Festival

Utah Pride 2013 - Celebrate RecoveryFor the 2013 Utah Pride Festival, USARA will sponsor the very first Celebrate Recovery Float at the Utah Pride Parade on Sunday, June 2nd.

Our recovery events rely on the collaboration of volunteers, the recovery community, community partners, treatment organizations and family and friends to help us spread the message that individuals and families suffering from substance use and addiction can and do recover!

We encourage you to walk beside us in the parade. By joining us, you will put a personal face on recovery and become a catalyst for change in regards to the current stigma surrounding substance use and addiction. Our recovery events help us to gain momentum in changing this stigma throughout Utah.

Celebrate Recovery with USARA

This is an EXCELLENT opportunity to come out and support your own or your LOVED ONES life in recovery. Come walk with us and Let’s Get Loud and Proud People!

We invite everyone to walk, ride, skate or bike along with the USARA Pride Float on Sunday June 2nd to celebrate and raise awareness that Recovery from drug and alcohol is possible. Be prepared to participate from 9am until 12:30pm.

If you are interested, please join us on Saturday, June 1st, 5pm at USARA for our GAY PRIDE FLOAT DECORATING PARTY AND MEETING.

Event Details:  Sunday June 2nd 8:45-12:30

Check in: All participants need to arrive between 8:45am -9:15am at the float which will be in the staging area which for us is located between 500 E and 400 E on 300 S. Look for the USARA truck in parade spot “Red 114.” Anyone who is not in the staging area with our float by 9:15 risk the chance of being locked out of the area and miss being in the parade.

When the parade is over: The end of the parade route will be at the corner of West Temple and 200 S. There will be NO transportation from that spot to the beginning of the route. It is suggested that you car pool and have one car at the parade beginning and perhaps one at the end. Also Trax is available for a normal fee and will be running that day.

Rules of the Parade: ParadeRules_20130521-202803_1.pdf

Dress Code: We encourage everyone to dress bright (rainbow colors, neon colors, sparkles) with wings if possible. Also we need to reiterate the dress code regulations that are required by the parade and the city officials.

PLEASE NOTE:  It is against the law to appear nude in public or to be exposed in a manner determined to be lewd, lascivious and/or obscene. Violators of these laws will be barred from participating in Utah Pride Parade and could be subject to citation or arrest from the Salt Lake City Police Department. You will be responsible for any fines, fees, arrests, injury or imprisonment that may occur if you break these or any other laws. This also includes “mooning.”

Also PLEASE PLEASE wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen.
